ERC’s Fifteenth Anniversary

Asheville, NC (September 15, 2012) – The ERC is proud to announce that it is celebrating its 15th year anniversary. Beginning in 1997, the ERC has served communities across western North Carolina and continues to expand its reach. ERC Broadband’s 500+ mile network now operates between Franklin and Boone and continues to grow. FCC Targets 19 Million Rural Americans

Asheville, NC (August 2, 2012) — The FCC is reforming the Universal Service Fund (USF) into the Connect America Fund to focus on broadband. This is a recognition that broadband has become a necessity for American families. The goal is to expand high speed Internet to millions of consumers across the country. ERC’s Executive Director affirmed as an Asheville Chamber of Commerce Board Member

Asheville, NC (July 02, 2012) — ERC’s Executive Director, Hunter Goosmann, was affirmed as an Asheville Chamber of Commerce Board member on Friday. Goosmann is a committed community advocate who serves on this and other area Boards of Directors, including the North Carolina Technology Association, Meet the Geeks, and the Bob Moog Foundation. ERC Board Member wins the People’s Choice award at the “Full Steam Ahead Awards”

Asheville, NC – May 25, 2012 – It was announced last night that ERC Board Member Troy Tolle won the WRAL People’s Choice award at the “Full Steam Ahead Awards”. MCNC finishes first phase of Golden LEAF Rural Broadband Initiative

Raleigh, NC (April 27, 2012) – MCNC announced today that the first round of the Golden LEAF Rural Broadband Initiative (GLRBI) is complete. This is an incredible accomplishment for the MCNC and the State, and the ERC congratulates them on this success. As a subrecipient to MCNC in the second round of the GLRBI, the ERC is happy to be a partner and participant in this groundbreaking effort.
